– Founder and President
Scott French, also known as Frenchy by his friends, is a veteran of the U.S. Army 2nd Infantry Division (2ID Warriors. 2nd To None). During the 1980’s Scott was stationed in South Korea in the Western Corridor and DMZ as a Stinger Team Chief and gunner. Injuries he sustained in the military changed the way he walked, and over the decades, changed the natural alignment of his gait, causing ankle, knee, and lower back injuries later in life.
In 2018 at the age of 57 his doctors were recommending spinal fusion surgery for multiple herniated disc’s to be followed by total knee replacement surgery. Being nearly 60 pounds overweight and being brought down by depression surely wasn’t helping. Being a black belt in karate and studying martial arts for most of his life, Scott knew that he was not doing everything to own his health. He knew that he could do more to own the quality of his life.
Scott experienced an “aha moment” when fear gripped him upon hearing doctors recommend major surgeries. Simultaneously, he discovered the DDP Yoga program (DDPY) and wholeheartedly embraced it. Over the next three months, he diligently rebuilt and fortified his lumbar region from within, gradually developing core strength. During this time, he underwent spinal epidurals every three weeks to alleviate his pain.
After three months, Scott had lost enough weight, effectively supported his lumbar region and has successfully avoided spinal surgery up to this very day. His commitment to well-being and resilience shines through in this remarkable journey.
Following his lumbar journey, Scott turned his attention towards preserving his knee. He underwent six rounds of stem cell therapy and engaged in DDPY as part of his knee rehabilitation. As a result, he has successfully evaded the need for replacement surgery. Of course, this required behavioral adjustments and minimizing impact during daily activities and exercise. Shedding over 52 pounds in body weight significantly eased the pressure on Scott’s joints. He attributes his weight loss by living the DDPY and Warriors Purpose Lifestyle.
Scott, having avoided those surgeries, vowed to pay it forward. His mission? To share the DDPY program with fellow veterans, aiding them in rebuilding their health and enhancing their quality of life. Driven by this purpose, Scott became a certified DDPY instructor. Throughout training, even amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic, he continued to support other veterans and their families. He was living the “warrior with a purpose lifestyle.”
During Scott’s transformative journey, his wife, Amy was by his side, every step of the way providing encouragement and support. So much so that she joined the DDPY program just a few months after Scott did all in the name of supporting him. As Amy witnessed the rebuilding capabilities of this program, she observed not only the positive changes in Scott but also in numerous others within the DDPY community. Fueled by this shared experience, Scott and Amy founded the Warriors Purpose Foundation. Their mission is to pay it forward to help fellow veterans and their families.
Once deciding to establish this Foundation, Scott and Amy decided to surround themselves with board members from the original DDPY Warriors Purpose group who are Veterans and bring great talents and skills to the Foundation and its warriors. We believe that their individual stories and experiences are sure to resonate with many members in this community and we are grateful for each of them.
We are also very grateful for you and any support that you may be able to provide us in helping our Nations Veterans. Wishing you all good health and happiness always.
Justin De Hoyos is a retired US Army veteran who served six years as a 25V (COMCAM) with missions across Europe, South America and Africa. After transitioning out of the military in 2016, Justin faced the challenges of starting a new chapter in life, navigating a medical discharge, and dealing with numerous VA medical claims. A pivotal moment came when he discovered a DDPY video on Facebook, inspiring him to take control of his life and embrace a new beginning beyond his military career.
From 2016 to 2019, Justin’s transition to civilian life was marked by struggles, including a divorce, zero sense of direction and managing various medications for his injuries. In 2018, motivated by his son’s increasing activity, he reignited his passion for running. With the support of the San Antonio community, Justin has since completed four marathons and, in 2020, embarked on a 200-day running streak, covering over 1,800 miles.
In 2020, Justin joined Grunt Style LLC as a content scriptwriter, merging his passion for storytelling with his commitment to the veteran community. Over four years, he has advanced to managing Content and Media for Grunt Style and their patriotic content site, AmericanGrit.com. Through these platforms, Justin shares stories of continued service, informs veterans of relevant news and culture, and fosters a sense of community and purpose among veterans, law enforcement, and firefighters.
In 2023, Justin co-authored the Grunt Style Foundation’s mental health resource, Triangular Compass. This self-led leadership resource serves as a field manual for veterans, addressing their body, soul, and spirit through holistic assessments. Currently being adopted by VFWs nationwide, Triangular Compass aims to help veterans, law enforcement, and firefighters find purpose and identify their true north beyond the uniform.
As the Secretary of the Board for the Warriors Purpose Foundation, Justin continues his dedication to serving the veteran community, ensuring that the spirit of service extends beyond the uniform and into the heart of his community.
